A little bit about me

My name is Amanda and I am a graphic artist.  I have been in the design world for 7 years now.  I attended the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver where I earned my Bachelors in Media Art and Animation.  I also hold a dual degree in Graphic Design. Most of my experience thus far has been with print. Mainly book design and layout, though, I have experience with ad design, illustration, logo creation, and website creation.

I am proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Distiller, QuarkXPress, Pitstop Pro, Preflight, Quite Imposing Plus, Suitcase Fusion 4, Premiere, Flash, Dremweaver, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, HTML, Java Script, and other coding languages.

As a Graphic Artist

Currently I work as a Graphic Art Specialist for CreateSpace, the self-publishing (Indie) subsidiary of Amazon.  Here I create hardcover books, over see all of the various changes processes for covers and interiors, lead and implement process improvements to our workflow, and work with Amazon’s Publishing imprints and Kindle. I also provide support to our authors and internally to the company. In my spare time, I train new hires from different job roles and new Graphic Art Specialist.

Previous to CreateSpace, I worked for a small publishing company creating restaurant city dining guides.  Here I created the layout of the entire book, gathering materials, menus, and recipes.  I created the ads, illustrated the maps and over saw the entire process from concept to the finished printed book. On the side I maintained the company website to match the current books we had in print.

I have an excellent work ethic and I am a strong fast worker.  No job is too small or too big for me and I always go above and beyond to help my team and our authors.  I am known for delivering fast, quality results and are often asked to work on multiple projects at a time because I can balance the workload without sacrificing my work.

On a personal note, I love food! I have a special love for Asian cuisine, anything fresh (veggies) and baked goods.  In my spare time I love experimenting with recipes and enjoying a good meal.  I also love a nice strong cup of hot tea or coffee.

Besides my love with art and all things to do with design, I enjoy coding, reading, traveling, video games, comics, Japanese animation, running, and being outdoors.
